SUMMARY: The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) manages the curbside collection of garbage and yard waste from single family dwellings (totalling approximately 65,536 as of July 31, 2026) at defined service zones within the boundaries of the; City of Kelowna, City of West Kelowna, District of Lake Country, District of Peachland, and portions of Central Okanagan Electoral Areas West and East. Curbside collection of recyclables waste is not managed by RDCO, and is managed separately by a separate agency called RecycleBC. Through this Request for Proposals, the RDCO invites proposals from suitably experienced organizations to perform the curbside collection of garbage and yard waste from the aforementioned single family dwellings over a service term of 10 years, commencing on May 1, 2029 and expiring on April 30, 2039. The RDCO anticipates executing a contract with the successful Respondent to this RFP, no later than April 30, 2027 in order to provide a minimum 2-year period for the successful Respondent to order equipment and prepare for commencement of the services.
