Summary:

This Request for Expressions of Interest and Market Sounding exercise is intended to solicit feedback from private sector contractors/vendors involved in the provision of waste collection services, regarding the Regional District of Central Okanagan’s plan to commence a public Request for Proposals process in Summer 2026, to select a private sector contractor to deliver the Central Okanagan’s Curbside Waste Collection Program (2029-2039). 

The scope of the Central Okanagan Curbside Waste Collection Program (2029-2039) can be briefly summarized as follows:

• Collection of garbage and yard waste from approximately 65,383 single-family homes across:
  • City of Kelowna
  • City of West Kelowna
  • District of Lake Country
  • District of Peachland
  • Electoral Areas ‘East’ and ‘West’ of the Regional District of Central Okanagan.
• Garbage collected weekly, Yard waste collected bi-weekly (March 1 to December 31).
• Waste is disposed-of at the Glenmore Landfill, 2710-2720 John Hindle Drive, Kelowna, BC.
• Service includes management and tracking of the waste cart inventory.
• Contract will run for a term of ten years, commencing May 1^st 2029, and expiring April 30^th 2039.
